FBF: Chic & Simple

Let's here it for another Friday!! What a week this has been. It's been productive, but I am so exhausted. I've been working out and getting back to my workout routine so my body is still trying to adjust. I've also been studying a lot so that's a factor as well. Oh and I must tell you; the most random thing happen to me. I was eating dinner the other night and all of a sudden, I felt something weird. I broke my tooth!!! Yep, broke a tooth. SMH, how random. The only good thing is you can't really see it but I know it's there!...or half there, LOL! Anyway, pray for me y'all; I have to get oral surgery and I absolutely HATE the dentist!

Now onto today's post. This FBF is all about chic and poised fashionistas. The first look I recreated is from the lovely Jillian of Nusopisticate. I've been a follower of her blog for a while and I always love her use of patterns, color and accessories. In the look below, I like how she mixed patterns so perfectly. So, when I did my version I used a print for the bottom, but kept the top basic. It's still a great use of print, but the denim top adds a casual feel to it. I decided to pick up the color in the skirt by adding a color block heel.

The next look is the forever fashionable, Kim Kardashian. While I am not a huge fan of the boots she's been wearing lately, I do LOVE a good sweater dress. And black and white is such a classic, simple color combo that is always in style. I recreated the black and white dress because I can see myself wearing a look similar to this. I love the flats with the sweater dress; it's unexpected but still chic. The knee boots are sexy and very "night on the town". I have worn knee boots before and I must say they are SO comfortable. More comfortable to me than heels.

So, what look do YOU like better? Can you see yourself wearing either look this season? Let me know. Have a great day and talk to ya soon!

P.S. I will announce the winner of my giveaway this afternoon via Twitter (@wnicjames) & my Facebook page.

J-Lo & Jumpsuits

Welcome to Facebook Friday and welcome to the weekend!!

Today's post is all about jumpsuits. I have ALWAYS been a lover of one piece items and the one celebrity who wears one pieces well is Jennifer Lopez. Below are a few of my favorite jumpsuit looks worn by the curvy celeb. My creations are a tad different because I wanted to do one dressy/chic look and one structured/masculine look. Which is YOUR fave Jennifer look and what's YOUR favorite look I created? Are you a fan of jumpsuits? Let me know...

One more thing; just because the weather is changing doesn't mean you can't pair an embellished cardigan or trendy leather jacket over your favorite summer jumpsuit. It's the perfect way to save money, and a great way to revamp a certain outfit.

Enjoy your weekend and I hope to see all my DMV friends at the Shop & Swap tomorrow afternoon (see info below). Take care!

FBF: Jessica & Selena

Morning, friends!

I'm going to keep today's post pretty simple. Below are my FBF picks and I hope you enjoy both looks. I am LOVING them both but for my style, I think Jessica's look would be my 1st choice. I love the blazer and the causal white tee underneath. Casual-chic at it's best! Selena looks lovely and very mature in her lave Dolce & Gabbana dress; perfect if you want to look glam and sophisticated.

So, which is YOUR fave? Which look would YOU rock?? Let me know. Enjoy your weekend and be blessed!

FBF: Boots & Plaid

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! What a week; whew! Am I the only one looking forward to this holiday weekend???? While I do have a busy weekend ahead, I plan on spending (most of) Sunday and Monday cihllin'. What are your plans for the weekend...?

Let's get to today's FBF. It's all about boots & plaid! When I first saw Tracee's look online, I fell in love with the dress and combat boots. I've seen this style before but never executed like Tracee. Her body fits looks amazing in the dress and the boots give the look an edge. It's perfect for the weekend and I plan to try something like this in the fall. The last look is rather simple and plain. I've done outfits on the blog before including denim and plaid; it's one of my fave combinations for the fall. Derek Luke looks great in his plaid shirt and vest, so I changed it up a bit and created a female version. This is yet another look perfect for weekends/errands.

So, which is YOUR favorite look? What can YOU see yourself wearing...combat boots or plaid??? LOL. Let me know!

Enjoy your holiday weekend and I will be sure to do the same ;-) Be blessed!

FBF: Down to Business

Happy Friday people!! You already know its time for FBF so I will make this short and sweet.

I am LOVING both looks, as well as my own creations. Garcelle Beauvais is always so classy and chic, while Wendy Raquel Robinson is sassy and always fashion forward. In my mind, the first look is appropriate for a holiday/special event party for work. Not too many frills, but just enough color and bling to make a statement. The second look I adore; its very me. I say this because its fashion forward, yet with the pop of green and the grey slacks, I feel that it makes the look reflects personal style. It's more than your basic "leopard and black" and I like that. I can definitely see this as a day look for the office, as well as an after work dinner/happy hour look. Which is YOUR fave???

Have a blessed weekend and be safe!

FBF: Sex & the City

Hey friends!!! The weekend is upon us yet again and I am SUPER excited to get this one started. Why?? Well, my birthday is tomorrow!!! I am always excited for my birthday---to me it's like my 'new year'. I can't wait to spend the day with my honey, and my family.

Today's FBF post is Sex in the City inspired. I know my fellow BLM Girls have seen me ask about this put I wanted to bring it to my blog page. My good friend Bre is having a bridal shower in a few weeks and the theme is, Sex and the City. We were asked to come dressed as our favorite character and a prize would be given to the best dressed. I could go ALL out for this, and as competitive as I am I just might, but for the moment I am trying thinking of two particular looks. My fave character is Miranda because I love her masculine inspired looks in the earlier shows, as well as her edge yet chic looks throughout the movies. I looked on the web and found two looks that I can easily recreate with things in my closet. Using Polyvore, I recreated them into my own looks.

What do you think? Any suggestions?? Any looks that Miranda wore that YOU think I should try??? Let me know. For now, enjoy the post and I will ttys!!! Be blessed...

Nic's Picks: Fall Line-up

Hey there!!! Here we are....another Friday. Can you say, "WHOOO HOOO!!!" I am super excited to get this weekend started. If you follow me over on Facebook, I'm sure you've seen me post several things about the Secondhand Shopping event that's happening TOMORROW! If you haven't, check HERE for more details. This is the first fashion event that I am going to be apart of and I am so honored and thankful for Patrice (the director of the event). She has been great so far, and I know tomorrow's event is going to be a HUGE success!

Now let's get on with today's post. While I usually do Facebook Friday's, today I am doing something different. I wanted to share with you some of my Fall inspired looks. I hate to think about fall because I don't like to rush the time/seasons, but it will be here before we know it. Also, I made a promise to myself that this fall I was going to plan ahead. I want to already have in my mind the look(s) I plan to achieve and I want to start looking for certain items now. Because I will be back and forth to class, work and running around doing pageant activities with the lil sis, I plan to dress comfy, yet cute. I plan to hit up the thrift stores, Macy's and maybe try a few online sites this year. I must say, fall is one of my favorite seasons; I LOVE boots, sweaters, leather, and scarves. Am I alone??? Who else loves the fall??

The looks below are again just ideas of the direction I'm going in. Am I going to purchase these exact looks? I don't know---doubt it. BUT, it'a always good to have visuals so that you can refer back to. I DO know that I will be purchasing a wrap dress, biker like boots, and a comfy fall coat. Something similar to the grey one below. As a HUGE fan of print, I also plan to incorporate my love for animal print into my fall wardrobe. Lastly, I have quite a few pieces that I am wearing now that can easily transition to fall. That's always a plus!

So tell me, which is your fave look? And what are YOU looking froward to this fall, fashion wise? Where are you planning to shop??

Be blessed and have a wonderful Friday :-)

PS HUGE thanks to Christina over at, Love Brown Sugar and Simply Be; I won this AMAZING fall coat (below) from Christina's 3 Year Anniversary Giveaway. Can you say  #WINNING!!! I cannot WAIT to rock this during the fall!!

Facebook Friday: Metallic & Floral

Happy FRIDAY!!! I hope your week was good and if you're on the East coast, I hope you stayed cool! It's been scorching hot the past few days here in MD and I can't wait for the temps to cool down.

Today's edition of FBF is all about a smart look and a playful look. Nene is rocking her business look in metallic and grey. I LOVE this look---very smart and classic! And not to mention, she looks VERY RICH ;-) The next look is more fun and it's something that I wouldn't necessarily go for. However after I created this look on Polyvore, I really fell in love with it. It's something I would really like to try and recreate one day. It's super colorful and although the pieces aren't a perfect match, it works!

Enjoy and have a productive and blessed day!!

Facebook Friday: Blogger Edition

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!! Boy am I glad to see the weekend finally come; I feel like this week was just dragging by. Not that I am going to be able to rest much this weekend but, LOL, I'm still happy to see Friday :-)

This edition of Facebook Friday features a look I wore and posted on Facebook/Instagram a few days ago. I simply love the simplicity of the look. The turquoise thrifted pants have become a staple item for my Summer wardrobe. I added a tan, over-sized top and wore gold accessories. The look is very fresh and summery and wearing these pieces together is SUPER comfy---the material of the pants and top are so soft. I recreated the look using a turquoise skirt and tan top. This look gives the same simple and fresh feel as my outfit does. After recreating my look, I'm on a hunt for a turquoise skirt!! Know where I can find one?? ;-)

My last look is from Eboni, over at The Fashionista Next Door. When I saw this look I instantly LOVED it! I really like how she added the pops of red to her look as well. And her dress is a perfect fit--not to mention I love the print :-) I used 2 dresses to looks on Polyvore to recreate her look. One with a dress, and the other with a skirt and top. I am more partial to the dress, but I am loving the top I used for the other look. The doff-the- shoulder top with the bow is too cute!

Which is YOUR favorite look???? Enjoy the pics and thanks, as always, for your support :-) Don't forget to follow me via-Facebook and Twitter!

PS I am also using my look to link to Work it Wednesday over at A Little Bit of Lacquer. You should link your looks too! ;-)

Facebook Friday: Hilary & Kerry

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! I am so happy to see this day come---I have had one hack of a week! I hope you all have had a great week :-)

This week, I focused on Hilary Duff & Kerry Washington for FBF (click on pics for the original links). I love Hilary's look because it is so simple and basic, yet chic at the same time. I did a 2 part look with her pic as an inspiration because I can see me wearing this look A LOT this summer. I am a huge fan of skinny jeans, over-sized tops, and (comfy/sensible) heels. I intend to recreate both of her inspired looks ASAP!

Then we have Kerry...she is the epitome of class (in my opinion). She rocked this leather skirt and I love her top. To recreate her look, I though of something funky and different. So, I decided to pick leather shorts instead of the skirt. I love the look and I can see a lot of my blogger friends possible wearing an outfit like this.

SO, what's your fave??? Enjoy the pics and have a blessed day!!!

Facebook Friday: The Weekender Edition

Good morning friends, and HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Can you believe that its June already??? The days are just flying by, but I am definitely thankful and blessed to enter into another month.

I will keep this FBF post short and sweet today. The two looks I recreated are both looks that are PERFECT for the weekend. I really love bell bottoms and really flare jeans so the first look is right up my alley. The second look is from one of my dearest friends, Ayana. She is such a genius when it comes to designing and making clothes. She is a true fashionista and has been ever since I've know her. Oh and in case you're wondering, yes---she made her outfit ;-) I recreated her look using the red, white and blue as an inspiration. I am a huge fan of sneakers and hats so the look has my name written all over it ;-)

Which is YOUR favorite look?? Enjoy and ttys!!!...be blessed :-)

P.S You can follow Ayana on instagram (audacious_ladya) see her other designs, HERE or HERE.

Facebook Friday: Olivia Wilde & Curves

It's finally here...FRIDAY!!! Boy has it been a long, crazy, off and all of the place kind of week. However, I am happy and blessed to have seen it through. I haven't shared all of my happenings here on the blog lately, but I do however update my Twitter and Facebook accounts regularly so if you'd like to know what I'm up when I'm not blogging, feel free to follow me there.

I will share one thing though---this week, my mother sister and I had a 6am call time for a movie, coming out in 2013. My sister, who is a budding actress ;-) had her first on set experience and of course, my mom and I joined her. And who was on the set??? None other than Oliva Wilde and Sam Rockwell! It's funny because I thought I'd be more starstruck, but I was actually really cool. Okay, when I first realized it was them, I did get a bit taken aback but after being on the set all day (11 hours) with them, the fanatical side of me calmed down, LOL. The other actors, extras, directors and producers were EXTREMELY nice and helpful. Not only did the crew provide (hot) breakfast and lunch, but they also had a lavish spread of GOOD snacks!! I'm talking veggie straws, donuts, chips, pretzels, Twizzlers, cracker packs, water, tea, candy...ENDLESS! I can honestly see how "stars" struggle to stay fit while filming. The food choices are just insane, lol! And I did see Miss Wilde sneak back a few times to the snack table herself---but hey, we're all human right?? ;-)

Anyway, I thought it was only right to recreate one of Olivia's looks for FBF today. This is my second look I've seen with her wearing a relaxed maxi look and I am loving it (see another maxi look, HERE). I added my own little twists, of course, and I am actually hoping to literally recreate my look once I look through my closet. I think I have a few of the pieces...we shall see.

The last look is A Girl with Curves, Tanesha. I featured her HERE before as well. As a curvy blogger, I love the way she dresses her body and I admire the way she wears the latest trends. Her looks are always very practical and well put together---truly inspiring! I hope you enjoy my recreation of her look!

Enjoy the pics and feel free to let me know which look is you fave. Have a great (4 day) weekend :-)
