Insta-Recap

Hey there! Did we make it through another Monday?? I hope we all did and hope you're ready to continue this week :-) Just wanted to share my weekend recap, via-instagram pics, as usual. Some are from later last week (Thurs/Fri) but I still wanted to share.  Don't forget to find me on Instagram, @msnicjames

The first pics are a 2 of my outfits form last week. I am just so smitten by my pink (thrifted pants) seen many times on my blog. I just LOVE styling them. I pulled out my fave bakers sandals the other day and paired it with some ethnic jewelry and fell in love with the look. Even at work, I felt super comfy and cute.

This outfit is a remake (lol) of a previous one (see HERE). This day I wanted a polished looked, but wanted to wear flats because my feet just couldn't take the heels. How'd I do?? ;-)

As far as my weekend, I spent it with family as usual. We went to the Bowie Baysox game with lil sis. She went for her school, as well as for a "royalty appearance" as they call it. Now I am NOT a huge baseball fan due to my awful allergies and phobia of getting hit by a ball, but I must admit I had a ball! We ate ballpark food, laughed, and just had good fun!

*these are some sketches lil sis created for her big cousin Terrence and Lady Gaga; which one would YOU like to wear?? LOL...*

* mom got a new hairstyle this weekend and I am LOVING my moms new haircut; the back is flawless!!*

*my cousin Nicole is the most fabulous and newest member of the Delta Sigma Theta Soroity, Inc. and this was her homemade, congratulatory cake; it included her line name, the Dream Girl *

*...& what better way to end the weekend than with my honey...*

Egyptian Inspired

I was so inspired when I saw this dress/tunic a while back at the thrift store. It reminded me of my trip to Egypt so I quickly grabbed it (for $6.50) and began planning how I was going to wear it. My fiance' and mom both saw it first and both suggested a belt, then my mom said leggings or tights. As usual, they were right ;-) I added my thrifted necklace, that also makes me think of Egypt, and knew that the outfit was complete. I wore some comfy booties I swapped a few weeks back at a clothing swap and added my faux leather (reversible) jacket to top it off.

I think I pulled it off and I can't wait to rock this with some leggings when it gets to be a tad warmer. What do you think; how'd I do?

Vacation Memories

So in my previous post, I mentioned that I traveled to  the Mediterrian with my family. We were away for 14 days and it was the most amazing trip I've been on, ever. I still cannot get some of the sites out of my head. I have been blessed to travel to different places, but none such as these (Greece, Egypt, Italy, Malta & Spain).
I learned something from each country and not to sound like Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love, (lol) i wianted to share some memories with you.

In Spain, I learned to live. The city of Barcelona was lovely and i felt a spirit of freedom that made me want to just dance and enjoy LIFE.

In Italy, i learned how to eat and savor each bite!! Like the movie Eat, Pray Love, I ate the Italian cuisine and OMG…the food was just so rich and so GOOD! I didn’t worry about how much, or how many calories, lol…I just ate, I enjoyed every bit.

When in Greece, I was amazed by the Parthenon and the city of Athens; so much history. I think it Greece, I really learned how to take an experience and capture it. in my case, I captured the experience on film. I think some of my greatest photos were taken in both Athens and Rhodes, Greece.

In Malta, a country I wasn’t familiar with, I learned to explore. I saw some of the most beautiful churches ever built, I saw some of the most unique jewelry, and rode down the most quaint streets.

Last but not least, Egypt. To be in Africa was just amazing to begin with. But to touch the pyramids, to learn about the culture and the people, my people…was something I will NEVER forget. In Egypt, I learned to appreciate, I learned another side to myself I never knew was there. Our tour guide explained so much to us during or 2 day stay, and from her wealth of knowledge, I took soo much from it. I got in touch with my emotional side as I teared up when i first arrived to the pyramid and when I entered the catacombs. I felt proud when I heard her speak of Nefertiti, and I felt at home when I walked the streets and bought items from the local vendors. The people there were very poor, yet they welcomed me made me feel comfortable. I wasn’t scared to learn a bit of the language; it was just simply amazing.

With all that said, I plan to take a trip back to each country one day soon. I also want to share the experience with my family, as mine did with me (and my sister). I am forever grateful and I am so thankful for the memories and things learned….and pleased with the purchases I made ;-)

Enjoy the pictures :-)
