Thrifty Monday

Welcome to a new week friends!!!

I hope you've all had a GREAT weekend. Mine was pretty good. I spent the majority of it with my family, then spend a few hours with my babe thrifting on Saturday. We stopped by to see a few friends, grabbed a bite and were in the house relaxing by 9:30, LOL! Sunday, we went to church and as usual, the message was uplifting and relateable.

I decided to wear two of my favorite thrifted pieces. My maroon, Coldwater Creek dress ($2.50) was purchased on a thrifting trip in Laurel, MD one weekend. I LOVE the slits in the dress, as well as the fit. It hugs my body just right! The leopard jacket (which is very lightweight) is form 2nd Avenue in Columbia. As you already know, I am a sucker for anything animal print ;-) I added my thrifted necklace and glasses (99 cents) to complete the look.

My next look is from last weekend. My fiance' and I were asked by our good friends to host their wedding reception. With pleasure, we accepted and I immediately was on a hunt for a lavender/purple dress, per her request. I could not find anything lavender but I remembered I had a purple dress hanging in my closet. I purchased this dress form 2nd Avenue months ago for $3.50 and have been wanting to wear it for quite sometime now. The shoes were $14.99 from Marshalls and the earrings are my moms. Perfect look, huh?

Be Still

Happy Thursday all!

Today's post features non other than, ME! LOL...it's been a while since I've done an outfit post so I am super excited to post this one. I wore this outfit to my friends Bridal Shower (see story HERE) and won best dressed :-) The theme was Sex and the City and I decided to dress 'like' Miranda. I feel that my dress is somewhat Miranda-ish. During the last season of the show, she really came into her own as far as style and she wore a lot of color, patterns, dresses and heels. So this is why I decided to go with this dress. What do you think? Miranda enough for you??

Before I go, I just want to share something. I attended Tuesday Night prayer this week and I feel compelled to share a bit of what touched me that night. As I sat there in the huge auditorium, there were people around me of all different races and backgrounds yet there was something we all had in common. At one point or another, we felt tired, worn out and stressed. Different people shared their prayer requests and prayer testimonies with the group and while listening, I began to realize that people in this world are really burnt out. Times are tough and stress levels are ridiculously high. As a result, people are getting divorced, suffering from depression, stress or worse. The minister had us sit in meditation/prayer towards the end of the service and all that you heard was the sound of the organ. I sat there...still. Quiet; making my prayer request known to God and tearing up while praying for others. I was able to really take the time and talk to God. And as the tears flowed, I knew He was listening. I was definitely in His presence. The whole day had gone by and that was the first time I'd taken to really sit and talk and focus on Him. It was powerful and it was something that I realized I needed to do more of.

Sometimes taking time out to just sit and focus on Him can calm us. We live in a world with constant movement and we all need to slow down. It doesn't matter if you take time to pray, sit in silence with the TV off, put your laptop and phone away for 30 mins...whatever it is, being still is so necessary.  Take time out of each day for yourself. Even if its 15 minutes, do it! Don't let this world drive you crazy and don't let this world get the best of you.

Be still, and know that I am God... Psalm 46:10

The Complete Look

Good afternoon friends!! Before I get into this post, I just want to say thank you ALL so much for your kind words on my most recent post. I really appreciate the support and love; it truly touched my heart.

Today's post is short and to the point. I just wanted to share the rest of my leopard & black look with you. I purchased the dress at Target a few weeks ago and I've worn it 3 different ways. I thought about doing another dress challenge (last one HERE), and I even wanted to include some of my readers/fellow bloggers. But life got crazy busy so, I said hey. I'll just share how I styled this dress sporadically throughout my blog.

I hope you enjoy the look, and be sure to check back tomorrow for Facebook Friday. I'm sure you'll love it! Until then, be blessed & take care.

Weekend & The Blue Dress, Part IV

What's up good people? I hope we are all doing well!! This post is the last look with me wearing the "same blue dress". My thrifted pink blazer was the staple in Sunday's look for church. I am loving the color combo---what about you? And I have probably shared this before but these Aldo sandals are SO comfortable and versatile. They were gifted last year for my birthday, via gift card. They are definitely a fave purchase of mine!

I also went to an engagement party this weekend for my friends Bre and Martin. The two are getting married in September and my fiance' and I are MCing their reception. That should be FUN!! I love when I see other couples in love, especially when God is the center of their union. It's quite refreshing.

Lastly, my babe and I went thrifting and of course, we found some GREAT items. Below are a few snaps of some of my goodies (also seen HERE). Enjoy the pics, and enjoy your day!!! Talk to ya soon...

Blue Dress, Part III

Hey there!! I hope your weekend was LOVELY!! I still can't believe how fast the weekend has gone by...where does the time go???

The following are a few snaps of one of my weekend looks. In keeping with the "Same Dress" theme from my previous post (HERE), I paired the dress with my Dad's denim shirt, bold jewelry and my fave summer sandals from Target. This outfit is so simple and comfy and has become a weekend staple look for me. Its perfect for a cool summer day, dontcha think??

Enjoy and talk to ya soon! My weekend recap post will be up next :-) Also, be sure to check HERE tomorrow for my latest thrift find from the weekend!

The Blue Dress, Part II

Hey everybody---how are you?? I hope all is well on your end! For the next few posts, I am going to try something a little different. I've worn this blue dress before (see HERE) and I've recently discovered new ways of styling it. If you remember, I also have this dress in green (see HERE). So for the next few posts, you will see these two dresses styled in a few different ways! I remember when blogger Lexy did something like this a while back and I thought it was genius (see her blog, HERE)!

On this day, I wore my blue dress with an open button up, printed shirt. I've actually worn this shirt on the blog before as well (see HERE). I thought the open shirt would be a cute way to spice up my dress. I usually throw on my black blazer but I wanted to do more. Once I put on my accessories and shoes, it clicked for me! It added just enough sass ;-)

Enjoy the next few posts and let me know what you think of the different looks. Be blessed!

PS My apologies for the spot on a few pics---the sun was blazin' and my camera lens was sweating, LOL!

Weekend Floral

So, picking up where I left off...the rest of the weekend was pretty busy. However, I did have my babe snap a few pics of my outfit. I planned to wear something different but when I got up, I changed my mind. Don't we all have those days? I've been wanting to show this sweater for a while now but every time I wear it, I forget to snap a pic. So with the great weather, today was the day to show you all! The sweater is just perfect!---it's not too heavy, not too light. I purchased it on sale from Marshall's and I am happy to finally share it with you all. The pink (thrifted) blazer was a last minute addition.

I wore this outfit to Georgetown for my lil sisters 1st appearance as a Maryland Princess ;-) We went to Signature boutique to try on and look at gowns for the National Pageant (held in FL in July). Let me just tell you that the boutique has some gorgeous gowns, shoes, and other pieces. I can't wait to go back! Not that I need anything but, LOL, just to be around pretty close and look was fun! The whole area (Georgetown) is so quaint and cute and I can't wait to go back. I have a few pics of some items I liked from Signature and I will post them on my Facebook page.

Sidenote: We also stopped by the Georgetown Flea Market and I picked up some really nice pieces. I will definitly be going back there as well. It's like a mega thrift store. Some prices are high, some low...it's a treasure hunt, but it's fun finding good stuff ;-) I will post those findings on my Facebook as well.

All in all, it was a GREAT day and weekend---I hope you can all say the same :-) Have a wonderful evening and have a happy Monday!

The Blue Dress Twin!!

Remember my cobalt blue dress from the other day (see HERE)? Well, meet her twin!!! When I went to Marshalls that day, I saw both and I had to get them. My mother has always told me that if I see something in my size that fits nice, get it in every color! LOL...I used to think that was the corniest thing but now that I am older and I pay for my own shopping expenses, I understand her philosophy. I like both colors because they are bright, and unlike something I would normally wear. The green and blue colors give me something to play with;  I can have fun with accessories and my shoes. So I think when purchasing these dresses, I did a job well done! AND, I can make them Spring/Summer dresses too. I can't wait to throw on some sandals and shades with each one....siiigghhh. Where are you warm weather??? ;-)

My favorite of the two would have to be.....the green. I just like how the color pops. I do LOVE the blue as well, but something about this green does it for me. Which dress is your fav? The blue (seen HERE) or the green? I'd like to know what you think :-) Thanks for your input and as always, thanks for your support and comments!

~Nic

Love Always...{2.14.12}

I hope you all had a great Valentines Day! Whether single, engaged, married or dating, it's important to be loved and show loved....every day. My V-day was nice and simple. The boo and I had reservations at a Sushi spot near our house but even with the reservations, the place was jammed packed! So, we opted to go to the Chinese restaurant right down the way called, Red Pearl . The food was amazing! I had the Chicken and Cashew Platter with brown rice, and my favorite cocktail, Lemon Drop Martini. We shared the Crab Wontons as an appetizer, while he had the 5 Flavor Shrimp and brown rice. The meal was divine and I keep craving the meal. I took some left overs home and ate it for lunch the next day; I LOVE leftovers, LOL! I didn't take any food pics because we both agreed not to take our cell phones into the restaurant. We had the best conversation(s), and just really enjoyed our time with one another. I love him so much, and I can truly say our 1st Valentines Day as an engaged couple was a success!

As far as the outfit, I opted for my red blazer I thrifted last week, a black dress I've had forever, and my sparkly B.P. heels from Nordstrom. I topped it off with my Love, Cortnie clutch and Traci Lynn chunky necklace (gifted from my friend Bre). I love the look because it was comfortable, and simply sexy. The dress was a tad short with the heels but it was an appropriate length for the occasion ;-)

Be blessed & talk to you all soon! XO....

The Blue Dress, the Purse, & the WINNER!!

Happy Valentines Day to you all! This day is super special to me because it's my first Valentines Day with my fiance', it's my Mommy's birthday, and my parents anniversary. WHEW! And, I recently found out that my blogger friend and handbag creator extraordinaire, Cortnie from, StyleLust Pages & Love, Cortnie has a birthday today as well. Special Happy Birthday to her as well :-*

Now onto my outfit....I was so happy that I got to wear my latest purchase yesterday; my brown, leather purse! It was perfect for my planned outfit. I've been wanting to wear this blazer/top for sooo long. I thrifted this months ago but never wore it. But as I have stated before, with this whole shopping my closet thing I'm doing, I get so excited when creating and putting together outfits. I really do have a lot of good stuff, lol.
I paired the purse with a cobalt blue dress which I LOVE (I have the same dress in Green), and brown tights...along with some comfy flats. Perfect for a day at the office ;-)

Lastly, I want to congratulate Lynn for winning my Valentines Day Giveaway!!! {see her page, HERE}  She is such a sweetheart and it is an honor to have her win my 1st giveaway of the new year :-) Another giveaway will be coming next month so no worries; more goodies in store ;-) Congrats again and enjoy!!! Be blessed everyone...
