Let Me Catch My Breath

Well let me just say that I have had a very busy, eventful and exhausting weekend. As tired as I am, I can't believe that I am able to type this post...LOL! I am actually typing and watching the Miss USA Pageant with my mother and little sister. After this, I am going to pass out in my bed and sleep the night away...

But before I drift off in to Lala Land, I want to share with you a few snaps from the weekend. The first is a pic of some vintage jewelry from my late grandmother. My grandmother, Ma James as my sister and I called her, passed away this week. The last time I saw her was Mother's Day. I actually posted a pic of her wearing a pretty thrifted hat (see post, HERE). I can honestly say she lived a FULL life and was the most energetic and positive 86 year-old I've known. I will miss her dearly, but the jewelry that she left behind, I will cherish forever....
Of course my lil sis was busy doing things this weekend ;-) I too her took her to an acting/audition workshop on Friday afternoon, then my fiance came along with my Saturday to take her. Today was her dance recital (B.Funk Dance Studio) and of course, she did an amazing job. She danced in jazz, lyrical and tap and the outfits were SO cute! The other dancers/dance troupes (ages ranged from 3-18) were phenomenal and the music they danced to was on point!

Below is a pic of what I wore to the dance recital, and a few other pics from the weekend.Enjoy and I hope you all have a productive and blessed Monday.....TTYS!!!

The Finale

What's goin' on everyone? I hope you're staying cool because here in MD, it's blazing!! But I can't complain---Friday is almost here and we get a 4 day weekend. Can't beat that!

I am continuing with my "Same Dress" series and sad to say, today is the last post :-( I really enjoyed this series. As previously mentioned, I had so much fun changing little things here and there to make the outfit look different. I must do this more often. It's actually made me look at other items in my closet and figure out ways to style them. You never know what you have in your closet/drawers until you look ;-)

I hope you all have enjoyed the blue and green dress looks (see here and here for the previous green looks). Thanks for your comments and suggestions and etc...you all are so supportive! Have a great day and be sure to check back tomorrow for Facebook Friday!!

Readers Choice & The Green Dress

So, I'm done with my edition of "The Same Blue Dress". I've really enjoyed styling it in several different ways. Thanks to Lexy (Beauty Fash) for the inspiration! Below are pics of how I wore/styled the dress, each time. Now that I'm all done, what's YOUR favorite look??? If I had to decide, I would go with the denim shirt look. I was so comfortable that day. Plus, I wore my Dad's shirt and I LOVE wearing menswear from time to time---their blazers and shirts have a great structure.

Moving on, I'd like to introduce you to my next dress series, "The Same Green Dress". Are you ready??? Scroll down to see how I styled my green dress, Day 1!!! You will see similar items form last week, but that's the whole point. LOL! I often remix items and I think its the smartest thing to do if you want to not only challenge your self, but also save time in the a.m. when getting dressed. These past couple days, I have saved A LOT of  time in the morning getting ready, thanks to this mini series/challenge. I wish I could do this everyday!

Thanks in advance for the kind comments and encouraging words, and a HUGE XXOOO to my new followers. See that I have new blog buddies to talk to always puts a smile on my face ;-) I hope you all enjoy the pics...be blessed!!

PS I am subitting my green dress looks to The Pleated Poppy's,  What I Wore Wednesday and A Little Bit of Lacquer, Work it Wednesday

Weekend & The Blue Dress, Part IV

What's up good people? I hope we are all doing well!! This post is the last look with me wearing the "same blue dress". My thrifted pink blazer was the staple in Sunday's look for church. I am loving the color combo---what about you? And I have probably shared this before but these Aldo sandals are SO comfortable and versatile. They were gifted last year for my birthday, via gift card. They are definitely a fave purchase of mine!

I also went to an engagement party this weekend for my friends Bre and Martin. The two are getting married in September and my fiance' and I are MCing their reception. That should be FUN!! I love when I see other couples in love, especially when God is the center of their union. It's quite refreshing.

Lastly, my babe and I went thrifting and of course, we found some GREAT items. Below are a few snaps of some of my goodies (also seen HERE). Enjoy the pics, and enjoy your day!!! Talk to ya soon...

Simple & Sweet Weekend

Monday again, huh? LOL...hey loves and welcome to a new week! How was the weekend? Mine was just as the title says; simple and sweet. The fiance' and I spent Saturday in DE for his God-sisters baby shower. It's always nice to share a special occasion with loved ones. Especially when there's collard greens, mac n cheese and cupcakes involved! LOL...when there's good food at event, I'm happy. Doesn't take much to put a smile on this face! I wish I took my camera with me because the decor was so cute. All the centerpieces were wrapped gift boxes (covered in blue and yellow wrapping paper), and the cake/dessert table was SO pretty, and tasty ;-)

On Sunday, me & mom went with lil sis to her photo-shoot. She needed some head-shots and a few other photos for some upcoming events/ventures. She did so well and just ate the camera up! Below are a few of my favorite shots form the day.
I also went to 2nd Avenue with the fiance' to find him a few things. While there, I picked up a pair of sunglasses for 96 cents. They automatically became my new fave thrifted glasses. They are SO chic and I cannot wait to wear them. I also picked up some Bandolino wedges for work for $4.90. I was really just there to shop with him but it wouldn't be me if I walked out of a thrift store with nothing ;-) The glasses and other weekend pics, including outfits I wore, are below.

Take care and don't forget to enter the Mother's Day Giveaway (click title for link). Contest ends Wednesday so hurry and enter ;-)

Turquoise & Black

Short and sweet post today! I hope all of you had a great day and HAPPY MAY 1st ;-) Can you believe its May already??? Jeeze....Anyway, here in MD, the weather was a bit warm so instead of a sundress, I wore my cropped Salvation Army pants (also seen, HERE). I am in love with these pants. They are so soft and they move right along with my body; they're the best! My accessories are really what (I think) made my outfit. All of which are thrifted or from Ebay. Enjoy the pics and ttys!!!

Flowing Beauty

Another Monday...sigh! Lol. I hope you all had a great one! Mine was really busy, yet very productive. As soon as I woke up this morning, I realized I had a short time to get ready and head out the door. I already planned in my mind to go with all black; that's always the best fix for me. However I ultimately went with with my newest thrifted beauty, a forest green (Lane Bryant) skirt. I hate that it doesn't picture as well as I'd like. It seems as if the skirt is blue-ish AND its so wrinkled in the photos (ugh!) but, what can you do?! I've been wanting a long, flowy skirt for a while now and when I found this one, I was beyond thrilled! I can see styling this skirt during the Spring/Summer months being SO much fun...can't wait to show you all what I come up with ;-)

Enjoy the pics and talk with you all soon! Great stuff coming up on the blog soon so stay posted and stay on the look out via my Facebook page :-)

Whirlwind Weekend

Well well! What a weekend. As I mentioned in my last post, I was in Atlanta for the day today and boy was that a quick, but productive, trip. My lil sis attended the IJM Pageant as a guest Queen and my mom and I went with her. Traveling with my girls as I call them was perfect! I love spending time with the two of them, but when I get them both to myself it's even better!

I also had a little time to do some thrifting. I went on this rampage and told myself I was done thritfing until my birthday (August) and I even confessed this to my fiance, and Prissy from Rush our Fashion. While I really do LOVE to thrift, I felt that I was aimlessly thrifting. So, I told myself I was going to go cold turkey. But after talking to my mother and going through my closet, I decided to take a step back , write a list of the items I need, and start there. that way, I will have a purpose to my thrifting. I am in the process of revamping my accessories & jewelry so I can always use some new and unique pieces. And as I build my Spring/Summer wardrobe, I plan to keep my word and only buy what I need. i have it all written and photographed so I think this will be easy for me to do. Also, because I am trying to tone up and drop a few lbs, I feel that me purchasing on my needs will motivate me to work for my ideal shape even more. I LOVE me and I LOVE my curves, but its time to get healthier and its time to get MOVING! I need to get it together and I am on the right track!

All in all, its a domino affect and I am excited to see how I progress. I hope you all enjoy my pics of the weekend and I PROMISE I will expose the details of my giveaway tomorrow. I don't want to crowd this post with too much. Take care, be blessed and speak with you soon!

Weekend Floral

So, picking up where I left off...the rest of the weekend was pretty busy. However, I did have my babe snap a few pics of my outfit. I planned to wear something different but when I got up, I changed my mind. Don't we all have those days? I've been wanting to show this sweater for a while now but every time I wear it, I forget to snap a pic. So with the great weather, today was the day to show you all! The sweater is just perfect!---it's not too heavy, not too light. I purchased it on sale from Marshall's and I am happy to finally share it with you all. The pink (thrifted) blazer was a last minute addition.

I wore this outfit to Georgetown for my lil sisters 1st appearance as a Maryland Princess ;-) We went to Signature boutique to try on and look at gowns for the National Pageant (held in FL in July). Let me just tell you that the boutique has some gorgeous gowns, shoes, and other pieces. I can't wait to go back! Not that I need anything but, LOL, just to be around pretty close and look was fun! The whole area (Georgetown) is so quaint and cute and I can't wait to go back. I have a few pics of some items I liked from Signature and I will post them on my Facebook page.

Sidenote: We also stopped by the Georgetown Flea Market and I picked up some really nice pieces. I will definitly be going back there as well. It's like a mega thrift store. Some prices are high, some low...it's a treasure hunt, but it's fun finding good stuff ;-) I will post those findings on my Facebook as well.

All in all, it was a GREAT day and weekend---I hope you can all say the same :-) Have a wonderful evening and have a happy Monday!
